Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack Foundation Presents HBCU Celebrity Softball Game

Yesterday, in observance of Black History Month, Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack Foundation hosted a celebrity softball contest… and he scored big by creating an abundance of opportunities for Historically Black Colleges.

Thursday at Minute Maid Park in Houston, the home of the Major League Baseball Astros, a star-studded game was played to benefit the Waymon Webster HBCU Scholarship Fund and the Cactus Jack HBCU Classic.

LaFlame issued the appeal, and an extensive roster of renowned athletes responded in support of the endeavor: Nick Swisher, Andre Dawson, Gary Sheffield, Carl Lewis, Ken Griffey Jr., and Jose Canseco and his daughter Josie, all of whom have won Olympic gold medals nine times. Tracy McGrady, Terrell Owens, Adrian Peterson, Vince Young, and Robert Horry, all of whom are NFL and NBA legends. In addition to Scarface, Bun B, Metro Boomin, Slim Thug, Sheck Wes, Trae Tha Truth, Paul Wall, and Dominic Fike, Travis’s peers also attended the event. After the match, in which T.O. emerged victorious, Daniel Moss, Executive Director of the HBCU Foundation, bestowed the Vanguard honor upon Travis and his family in recognition of their steadfast commitment to advancing higher education in the Black community and the scholarship opportunities they have facilitated. As of now, approximately $1 million has been raised by Travis in support of one hundred graduating HBCU seniors…all of whom were honored during Thursday’s game. The attendees were amused to see Travis in his baseball uniform, but were more interested in hearing the status of his long-awaited “Utopia” album, which he assured them would be available shortly.
