After many years, the loneliest sheep in his country was no longer lonely

After being abandoned on a rock for two years, the world’s most lonely sheep was eventually found and transported to a nearby agricultural park.

Following a “epic” mission, a group of volunteers described how they managed to rescue the sheep, whom they have now named Fiona.

The “loneliest sheep” has been saved at last, and is now known as Fiona. The animal had been abandoned on Scotland’s northeast coast for two years. Welfare inspectors examined the sheep.Rescue organization The Sheep Game declared: “She is in amazing condition.””The most isolated sheep in Britain is no longer alone.”We’ve given her the nаme Fiona, and she’s on her way to a renowned farm park in Scotland,””The rescue was EPIC!” they wrote on Facebook.Ali Williamson, one of the volunteers, described maneuvering the sheep up a “incredible slope” with “heavy equipment.””It was quite the task hauling her up that incline,” Ali continued.”Wherever she goes, it will be an extremely special place where you can see her every day.”

After using some “heavy equipment,” the Scottish SPCA examined the woman.

Last week, a hovercraft firm also offered assistance.

There were concerns that the rocky, hazardous circumstances at Balintore would prevent the sheep from being reached by boat or dinghy.

There were worries that the sheep’s fleece, which is thought to have been there since 2021, was so overgrown that it was nearly impossible to stand.

Additionally, Scottish SPCA animal welfare specialists cautioned that any attempted intervention would probably turn out to be “incredibly complex.”

In 2021, Jillian Turner saw the animal for the first time while paddling a kayak from Balintore to Nigg.

When she went back this year, she was surprised to see the sheep remained in the same spot.

“On the first occasion, her fleece was a normal year’s growth,” the woman stated. “But on the most recent trip, the fleece was enormous and reached the ground at the back.”

It must be agony for the poor ewe to be left alone for at least two years—she is a flock animal.

“The two times we passed her, it seemed like she was desperate to get in touch with us.”

Drones were deployed to the area to check on the welfare of the ewe, and it is believed that a farmer had previously looked into rescue possibilities.

The skipper of a nearby boat speculated that the animal was hiding nearby.

“It is thought that it shelters in at least one of the several caves in that area—that would explain how it has survived,” he stated.

“It is incredible that it has survived in that exposed location and in all types of weather; taking refuge in a cave would explain it.”

A Change.org petition asking for assistance in saving the sheep has amassed more than 55,000 signatures.

Edoardo L’Astorina of London organized it, describing how he and his partner were “deeply moved by the story of a solitary sheep.”

“A heartbreaking call that resonates with us deeply” was how he put her condition, and he went on, “Rescuing this beautiful sheep is not just about physical discomfort.” It has to do with mentаl health.

“We are dedicated to making sure this lone sheep is saved from its dangerous circumstances because we firmly believe that every life matters.”

“Help raise funds for professional animal rescuers who have the skills and resources necessary for such a challenging rescue operation,” he stated, was what he wished to do.

The British Hovercraft Company proposed transporting the sheep by air in a craft capable of carrying them, and they were looking for financial support for the potential 1,400-mile journey.
