Kid Cudi and Travis Scott Reconnect, Pay Tribute to Late Virgil Abloh on New Track Featuring Pharrell

The Scotts have returned, and they are making every effort to appear fashionable “At the Party.”

Kid Cudi and Travis Scott, also known as the hip-hop super duo The Scotts, collaborated with Pharrell Williams, a music producer, rapper, and Louis Vuitton men’s creative director, on a new mid-autumn club banger that was published on Friday, November 3. The hip-hop trio “At the Party” profiles and dresses like Ric Flair, with each member contributing a fashion-inspired line to the song.

Referring to the late Virgil Abloh, Cudi, 39, raps, “Bleed in the scene, I can accomplish/What I dream, full steam on the Humboldt, always think of Virgil/I was always struck with the no-no.” The fashion designer, who supervised menswear at Louis Vuitton and founded Off-White, passed away in 2021 after a two-year battle in secret with cardiac angiosarcoma, a form of cancer.

Scott, who was 32 years old at the time, addressed the verse by making reference to an additional renowned designer. The father of Kylie Jenner’s two children raps, “I was merely present at the event; I was s–t bumpin’ with Vivienne Westwood and the buttons; I had no budget restrictions; P and the Cudi; my bankroll was heavy with cash;” he says prior to mentioning the fashion line Comme des Garcons. “The love is counterfeit; therefore, the rage will endure forever.” “Cool me off with a Comme de sweater, baby; she’s going to get a top, you dig it?”

Scott and Cudi both include the phrase “four letters” in one of their verses. Although Genius deduces that this may allude to the acronym GOAT, which stands for “Greatest of All Time,” the song’s fashionable tone also suggests that the four letters represent LVMH, the multinational corporation that owns Louis Vuitton, Moët Hennessy champagne, and Hennessy cognac.

Additionally, Williams, 50, is the director of the menswear division at LVMH. Attaining the position “has been absolutely phenomenal,” Williams told Business of Fashion in October. “I am profoundly moved by the entire incident… that an individual would perceive me in such a manner. However, there are specific aspects of yourself that you are aware existed but are simply not contemplating in that manner.”

Williams is undertaking a formidable task by following in the footsteps of Abloh. In the 150-year history of the brand, Abloh was the first African American to hold the position of creative director of menswear for Louis Vuitton. Williams stated, “I am not here to fill my brother’s shoes.” “The shoes of my brother are his own.” “Also, his steps constitute his own.”

Conversely, he intends to pave the way for an unprecedented collaboration with Louis Vuitton through the brand’s chronicling of Black men and women who “obtains equal access to health care, education, economic freedom, and representation.”

Girl (2014) was Williams’ final studio album, but he has not completely abandoned music. Twentytwo were the recordings on which he appeared, including “Cash in Cash Out” alongside Tyler, the Creator and 21 Savage. In contrast, Cudi has been occupied since 2022, when he abandoned the Entergalactic initiative. Due in January 2024, his ninth studio album, Insano, is forthcoming.Scott, who debuted on the charts with his album Utopia in July and embarked on the Circus Maximus tour in mid-October, has also been diligently working. The 2020 single “The Scotts” by Scott and Cudi (born Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi) debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Following this, there have been rumors that The Scotts would release a full-length album, but as of yet, nothing has materialized.
