J. Cole | SpotifyAfter receiving over thirty new gold and platinum certifications in a single day, rapper J. Cole is getting closer to receiving his first diamond plaque ever.

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced 27 new certifications for Cole’s repertoire on Tuesday, November 21. The most noteworthy of them is that “Middle Child” is now 9x platinum, which indicates that the song has sold at least nine million copies in the United States.

Diamond certifications have only been awarded to 120 songs in history, including Eminem’s “Not Afraid” and his other two diamond awards, “Lose Yourself” and “Love the Way You Lie.”

Along with his features on Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode” and Future’s “Life is Good,” which have both reached 10 million sales, Drake also has many diamond-selling singles, including “God’s Plan,” “Hotline Bling,” and “One Dance.”

Hip-hop musicians JAY-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Wiz Khalifa, and Kid Cudi are among many who have also attained this distinction.

Ibrahim “Ib” Hamad, J. Cole’s longtime manager, praised the rapper’s run of new RIAA plaques in a post on X (previously Twitter), simply writing, “Certified.”

The sales status of a number of Cole’s songs was also updated; “Neighbors” was certified four times platinum, “Deja Vu” three times platinum, “Kevin’s Heart” three times platinum, and “KOD” three times platinum.

Cole’s partnership with Drake on “First Person Shooter” helped him achieve his first-ever No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year.

Although it was Cole’s first number one on the list, it was Drake’s 13th in seven years following his debut in 2016 with “One Dance.”
