Skeng Joins Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne Backstage at Rolling Loud California

Following Saturday night’s performance by Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne at Rolling Loud California, Street Cred DJ Skeng posed with the two artists backstage.

Unconfirmed at this time, the Jamaican performer, who has been in California with producer Rowan “Drop Top” Melhado since last week, is reportedly one of several artists inked to Minaj’s new imprint at Republic Records.

Minaj announced on the Friday, March 3, episode of Queen Radio on Amazon Music’s AMP, “I now have a record label.” “When I support an artist, you all know what I do for individuals who are not under my contract. “Can you imagine the good that I’ll be able to do for those who have signed?”

She went on: “My identity is not limited to rap, black, or anything else. We have acquired various other genres of music.

The Trinidadian rap star also praised Lil Wayne on Friday for assisting her in the beginning stages of her career and for motivating her to fully support the unnamed label’s first group of artists, which Billboard reports includes Nana Fofie, Tate Kobang, Rico Danna, and London Hill.

She stated, “When I entered this game, I had no documentation with Lil Wayne, but he had us on tour, in the studio, and on my mixtapes.”

“Therefore, I accept the significance of having another individual perform the laborious tasks on your behalf. I can see why individuals are withdrawing their support; they are, after all, microwave-safe, and will be gone the following day due to the absence of structure. No genuine individual holds a belief in them. That is equivalent to saying, “No, I will make it my business to see you shine.”

Patty Lauren (Patty Duke), a longstanding affiliate of Minaj, will hold an A&R position with the new label.

Skeng and his producers, John Coop and Shacko Di Truth, entered into a contractual agreement with Jon Baker’s Geejam Music, a Jamaica-based label, in June 2022.

Subsequently, a collaboration between Skeng and Minaj transpired, breeding a rendition of “Likkle Miss” under the production of Drop Top and DiTruth. Skeng received his initial Billboard entries with the remix.

In a November 2022 interview with talk show presenter and actress Jada Pinkett-Smith for Interview Magazine, the Super Bass rapper further sustained her momentum by attributing one of her inspirations to the young Jamaican artist.

“Of course, I am constantly inspired by others in the world.” We shall observe. Curious as to what is exactly so amusing? This may seem quite peculiar, but I recently encountered an individual by the name of Skeng. One day while on TikTok, I came across this song. Intrigued, I proceeded to YouTube to hear more of it, and I ended up listening to song after song by this artist. She stated at the time, “I already adore dancehall, but it’s been a minute since a new male dancehall artist truly captured my attention.”

She added that she was more attracted to the deejay because of his genuineness and unconventional fashion choices.

“The fact that he is not striving to be like anyone else inspired me.” I adored how absolutely real it was. Moreover, his voice was entirely unique. Individuals might not yet be acquainted with him, but they will soon be.

Recently, the two were parading during the annual carnival celebrations in Trinidad. Friday marked the debut of Minaj’s most recent single, Red Ruby Da Sleeze, which featured a sampling of the renowned Diwali Riddim.

In the past, she utilized samples of the Filthy Riddim and the Unfinished Business Riddim for her 2019 and 2018 singles, respectively, MEGATRON and Coco Chanel with Foxy Brown.
