“It’s easy for us, as human beings, to want our children to do certain things, but we have no idea. We’re just guides,” the multi-hyphenate, 51, told The Sunday Times
There is no question that JAY-Z and Beyoncé have left their children with a legacy that is without a doubt pretty remarkable.
On the other hand, if there is one thing that Jay-Z desires for Blue Ivy, who is nine years old, and her twin siblings, Sir and Rumi, who will turn four in June, it is for them to have the sense that they are supported enough to pursue their own endeavors.
During a rare interview with The Sunday Times, the multi-hyphenate, who is 51 years old, stated, “Feeling loved is the most important thing a child needs, you know?” This statement was in reference to his upcoming Only See Great campaign with Puma.
“Not ‘Here’s this business that I’m going to hand over to you, that I’m creating for you,'” she said. He went on to ask, “What if my child absolutely does not want to participate in sports or music?” I have no idea, is that correct? However, I believe that anything is possible so long as your child is able to believe that they are loved and supported.
Especially during the course of the previous year, when he spent more time at home and surrounded by family during the COVID-19 pandemic, JAY-Z shared with the magazines that he has learnt that family “is your foundation.”
He continued by saying that for the time being, his top objective is to “just make sure that we provide a loving environment and be very attentive to who they want to be about.”

And what about his own legacy? “I have no idea,” JAY-Z said in an interview with The Sunday Times at the time of his nomination for possible induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which was received in February.
I’m not completely devoid of ego, am I? I have high hopes that they will mention me with the names of Bob Marley and all of the other greats. But that is not for me to say,” he added, adding that he is “most pleased of conquering my circumstances and providing chance for others who look like me and who came from the same scenario that I’ve come from.” He claimed this is the thing that he is most proud of.
