Says King Combs Has ‘Always’ Wanted to Be Like Father Diddy, the Rapper: “There’s No Backup Plan”

Since performing is the family business, Christian Combs, the son of Diddy, “always” knew as a child that he wanted to be a performer.

Performer King Combs, 24, told PEOPLE exclusively, “It’s really always been something I wanted to do,” as he arrived at the iHeartRadio Music Festival on Saturday. “My dad has occasionally questioned me and inquired, ‘What’s your plan B?'” “Are you sure you want to do this?” I ask, “Is there a backup plan?”

Comb’s approach has been effective. As it rises the charts, his song “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop” featuring Kodak Black is becoming more and more popular.

“It’s definitely a dream coming true for me, and it’s a great feeling to have the fans and people out there gravitate to a song that I made in the studio,” he told PEOPLE.

When asked what he learned most from his father, Combs said, “I would say that the most important lesson is to never give up. Unable to and unwilling to stop. That’s the reality.”

Combs stated that nothing would ever compare to the first moment he heard his song on the radio, even though there’s no denying that things are improving for him.

“I was in New York in the automobile. My pals and I were out on the road. “‘Paid In Full’ came on right when I started doing music,” he recalls.

“I remember I just jumped out of the car and I started dancing instantly,” Combs continued. That kind of feeling doesn’t exist. It’s one of the nicest feelings ever.
