Lil Durk’s Non-Profit Takes Chicago Students on College Tour in New York

Chicago native and Grammy award-winning rapper Lil Durk recently organized a special opportunity for a group of students from Chicago. Through his non-profit organization, the Neighborhood Heroes Foundation, Durk aimed to enhance college and career readiness for high schoolers in his hometown.

In collaboration with the Brooklyn Nets, the Neighborhood Heroes Foundation arranged for the students to visit St. John’s University in New York. This initiative aimed to provide the students with firsthand exposure to college life and opportunities.

During their visit, the students, who are part of Durk’s College and Career Readiness Cohort Chicago, had the chance to tour the university campus and interact directly with faculty and students. Additionally, they participated in a career day event to gain insights into various professional fields.

The efforts of Lil Durk and his foundation were recognized by New York Senator Kevin Parker, who honored Durk with a resolution for his contributions to youth empowerment.

The students participating in this program are affiliated with Champs Male Mentoring and Phlanax Family Services, highlighting the collaborative effort to support under-resourced youth in Chicago.

Through initiatives like the College and Career Readiness Cohort program, launched in partnership with NASCAR, Atlanta Hawks, and Pepsi Co., Lil Durk’s Neighborhood Heroes Foundation aims to equip students with the skills, confidence, and resources necessary for success in academic and professional settings.

Since its inception, the foundation has provided opportunities for 50 students and awarded $100,000 in college scholarships. Additionally, the organization has invested in preparing students for the business world by purchasing business attire and offering business intensive preparation classes, complete with professional headshots and LinkedIn profiles.
