For many years, Travis Scott has not only solidified his status as one of the most influential figures in the hip-hop scene but has also emerged as a prominent fashion icon. According to a writer from GQ magazine, this assertion was notably evident during Travis Scott’s recent visit to New York City.
The rapper’s attire immediately caught the attention of fans, starting with the timeless Lotto sports jersey. Originally crafted in 2009 for the Borussia Mönchengladbach football club, it has since become a rare find. Teaming it with black wide-leg trousers, Scott added flair with a Chenille S Low baseball cap from Stüssy, a gift bestowed by a fan. There were even speculations that the American artist later reciprocated by gifting the fan a pair of sneakers as a gesture of gratitude.
Yet, the pièce de résistance of his ensemble was undeniably the oversized Hermès Birkin bag firmly held in Travis Scott’s grasp. Dubbed the Cargo HAC Birkin, it draws inspiration from military cargo pants and made its debut in 2020.
This generously sized bag is equipped with additional exterior pockets to cater to various needs. For example, the small pocket located in the bottom left corner can house AirPods, while the black leather pocket just above it is ideal for storing cards. Moreover, the detachable cup holder compartment on the side adds to its versatility. In June 2023, a limited edition Cargo HAC Birkin resembling Travis Scott’s was auctioned at Christie’s, fetching a price over four times the initial estimate.
Initially valued between $10,000 and $15,000, the bag ultimately sold for $40,320. In 2021, Travis Scott was spotted sporting the oversized Birkin bag while out and about. Its capacious interior can comfortably accommodate essentials such as laptops, chargers, attire, and even small pets. The design, known as Haut à Courroies (HAC), marks Hermès’ inaugural product, earning the distinction as the “oldest member of the family,” dating back to the early 20th century.
