Diddy has been in the the hot seat ever since a video of him assaulting Cassie surfaced online, and one of his longtime critics is now pointing out the insincerity of his apology regarding the ordeal.
On Sunday (May 19), Aubrey O’Day took to social media with a receipt to put the mogul’s acknowledgement of his violent behavior in perspective. Even though he took accountability for his past actions, she reminded the cyberspace that he flat-out denied the incident in question last year.
“I did not do any of the awful things being alleged,” he wrote in a statement a few months back. “I will fight for my name, my family and for the truth.”
Sharing an image of the note, the former Danity Kane star added: “Diddy did not apologize to Cassie. He apologized to the world for seeing what he did. He says he’s ‘disgusted w himself now, and he was disgusted w himself then’..
“but apparently he wasn’t disgusted enough w himself to not PIN this statement out calling her a liar & denying all of it.. leave god and mercy out of this, they aren’t present here, and you know it.”Last year, Cassie became the first of many to sue the mogul for sexual assault, harassment, misconduct and more. Per documents obtained by HipHopDX, the 37-year-old accused her former partner of rape, sex trafficking and physical abuse, among other things.
As the lawsuits against him continued to pile up, the New York City native released a statement and collectively denied all the claims made against him despite settling the case with the “Me & U” hitmaker out of court. In disturbing footage from 2016 obtained by CNN, the Bad Boys boss could be seen grabbing his ex by the neck and throwing her to the floor. He then kicked her repeatedly, grabbed her personal items and then kicked her once again before running back to his hotel room. She then tried to use a phone to call for assistance, which prompted the “Tell Me” rapper to shove her down to the ground.
All of this was detailed in Cassie’s lawsuit, which Diddy denied in the aforementioned statement. Yet, he admitted to the beating in his most recent social-media post soon after the assault video went viral.
“It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that. I was fucked up — I mean, I hit rock bottom — but I make no excuses,” the 54-year-old said. “My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted. I was disgusted then when I did it. I’m disgusted now.
“I’m so sorry. But I’m committed to be a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry.”
