There appears to be a new story about Diddy that gets worse and worse every day. Hitmaka recently accused the founder of Bad Boy of withholding a Notorious B.I.G. sample from Conway The Machine, then clearing it for his son King Combs.
In an interview on Shade 45, the musician formerly known as Yung Berg related the tale to Superstar Jay. He started off talking about making “Naughty” for Boosie Badazz, but before he knew it, Puff had gotten his hands on it and given it to his son.
The Chicago producer remarked, “No disrespect to Christian [Combs] because we got a bunch of other records that went crazy too [but] I love Boosie’s version more.” “No, I need that record,” Puff said to Craig Kallman, the CEO of Atlantic Records, over the phone. And I get a call from Craig asking, “What did you do to Diddy?”
Hitmaka sampled Total and Notorious B.I.G.’s iconic 1995 song “Can’t You See” on Conway The Machine’s unreleased tune “Can’t You Be,” which Superstar Jay brought up to continue the conversation. When it comes to working with Diddy, Hitmaka considered it standard operating procedure.
But Puff will definitely do it, he added. “I sampled a song by Diddy in the Conway situation, but he refused to clear the record for us.” The only person for whom he would not clear the record was his son. Christian Combs received that record for the same reason.
Only a few weeks have passed since Hitmaka disclosed that Diddy had been meddling in his career for a number of years. In late February, he appeared on The Joe Budden Podcast, where he disclosed that the mogul had changed his request for beats for The Love Album: Off The Grid to contacting his collaborators to attempt and alter his sound without his actual participation. He supposedly signed Hit’s partner Rob Holladay years ago and then turned Holladay against him.
